Despina graduated from FOCUS School of Photography and Visual Arts in Athens in 2001.  

She has collaborated with institutions such as the Onassis Cultural Centre, the New Museum of Acropolis, the National Archaeological Museum, the Hellenic Festival; with K2 Design Office, Haos Film, CU Vodafone; and with SOUL and Epsilon magazines, among others.

She has worked as a set photographer for Athina Rachel Tsangari’s films Attenberg (2010), The Capsule (2012), 24 Frames per Century (2013), and Chevalier (2015). She has also worked as a set photographer for Richard Linklater’s film Before Midnight (2013), Stefanos Tsivopoulos’ History Zero (2014), Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster (2015), Steve Krikris’ The Waiter (2018), and Argyris Papadimitropoulos’ Monday (2020).

She was also a part of “Isolario” project for Media dell’ Arte, a project that gave her intimate access to a few small vanishing insular worlds in Greece.

She often wonders what’s the use of taking pictures of everything, but she can’t help it.

Despina lives and works between Brussels and Athens as a freelance photographer.
